Experience

Hi, I'm Yumeng Liu.

I'm a collaborative researcher passionate about energy transition, climate policy, and wildlife conservation. With hands-on experience in environmental research, data analysis, science communication, and project coordination, I enjoy transforming data-driven insights into practical solutions for sustainability challenges.

I graduated from the School of Global Policy and Strategy at the University of California San Diego (UCSD) with a Master's in Public Policy (MPP) and a Quantitative Analysis Certificate, where I developed strong analytical and policy evaluation skills to address complex environmental issues. I also hold a Bachelor of Laws from the School of International Studies at Peking University, where I built a solid foundation in international relations.

At the Power Transformation Lab, I have worked on energy transition and climate policy research, analyzing coal capacity, employment transitions, and corporate carbon goals in China. I also contributed to climate and environmental policy communication at the World Resources Institute (WRI), where I compiled monthly policy reviews, created daily social media content on climate topics, and coordinated supplier relations for media services and events.

My passion for biodiversity and wildlife protection has led me to projects at TRAFFIC and Greenpeace, where I focused on legislation research and assessing environmental impacts on species.

I'm trilingual in Mandarin, English, and French, and proficient in R, Python, and QGIS for data visualization and spatial analysis. Outside of work, I love walking in nature with my dog, learning new languages, and supporting initiatives that bridge environmental science with community action.

I'm always open to new collaborations — let's connect and work together on building a more sustainable future.
